Ms. Giap Thi Hue (from Ngoc Thien commune, Bac Ninh province) was born normal like any other child. At the age of one, after a viral fever, she was paralyzed in one right leg. Doctors concluded that she had sequelae of polio.
When she reached school age, she had to use a cane to go to school. Every time she went to school, friends were indifferent or teased her, at those times, she only knew how to cry.
She really likes going to school, but cannot ride a bicycle, so her daily life is very difficult. She almost has no childhood. When she comes home from school, she just stays at home, always feeling self-conscious.

When I was a child, every day, at home, in addition to cooking rice, chopping vegetables to cook feed for pigs, I also sewed hats at home to sell to help my parents. My joy was associated with the radio. The radio was like my confidant," Ms. Hue recalled.
Growing up, she asked her parents to let her go to Hanoi to learn a trade. Although her right leg was paralyzed and walking was extremely difficult, she always dreamed of standing up with her own feet.
Ms. Giap was married, but after living together for a while, unable to find common ground, she and her husband divorced. She raised her child alone.
After the divorce, I was a single mother raising a 6-year-old child. Life was too difficult and deadlocked, causing me to collapse many times, but I didn't know who to share with, I only knew how to hug my own feelings," Ms. Hue recounted. She always longed to walk and live with her own feet, not to depend on anyone.
The female worker recounted that once when her child was in elementary school, she took her child to the supermarket. When she reached the escalator, she was confused and didn't know what to do. Her child couldn't understand and cried. She didn't know how to do it, nor how to make her child understand, so she just knew to cry along...
Currently, Ms. Hue is working as a worker at Ha Thanh Export Garment Joint Stock Company (Hoang Van commune, Bac Ninh province). An income of 6-8 million VND/month is only enough for her to cover living expenses, raise children to study, and there is no savings. Every day, she drives a three-wheeled vehicle to work at the company. Whenever she needs to travel, she uses a foot brace.
The foot splint has been used for 10 years, and is now cramped. Every time she goes home, she has to remove it immediately because it is very uncomfortable. She really wants a new foot splint so that she can walk more conveniently. "New foot splints have joints in the feet, I can use the splint all day and my legs are not sore," Ms. Hue said.

Last time, I went to repair a foot splint in Hanoi, I asked for the price of a new foot splint, they said it was about 25 million VND. Hearing the price like that, I had to put aside the intention to buy a new one, because I didn't have enough money for such a large amount of money," Ms. Giap shared. Since then, she has always longed to have a new splint, so that she can be more convenient in walking, living, working, and having money to raise her child to adulthood.
Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Ha Thanh Garment Joint Stock Company shared that Ms. Hue's family situation is very difficult. With the income from working as a worker at the company, she can only use it to cover her and her children's lives, it is very difficult to buy a new splint.
I really hope for the help of kind hearts, helping Ms. Hue get a new splint for her leg, convenient for walking. The company's grassroots trade union will also launch and call for support and assistance for Ms. Hue," Mr. Cuong shared.
