After missing the Laver Cup, which was widely expected to be the moment Nadal announced his retirement, the Spanish legend is likely to say goodbye at the men's team tennis finals in Malaga, Spain.
In the finals, French Open and Wimbledon champion Alcaraz - 22 - will be a key figure for Spain as they bid to win the event, which is likened to a tennis World Cup for the first time since 2019, starting with a match against the Netherlands.
Alcaraz was also a key factor in Team Europe's recent Laver Cup 2024 victory over Team World last weekend in Berlin.
The remaining members of the Spanish team are Roberto Bautista Agut, Pablo Carreno Busta, Marcel Granollers.
Meanwhile, US Open and Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner is one of five members of Italy's squad for the finals, which begin on November 19. Italy will face Argentina in the quarterfinals.
The 23-year-old played a key role in Italy's triumph last year, where he beat Novak Djokovic twice in one day, first in singles and then in doubles, in the semi-finals.
Italy beat Australia in the 2023 final to win the Davis Cup for the first time since 1976.
Other teams that qualified for the finals include the United States, Australia, Germany and Canada.
