2 low pressure areas are being monitored by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and both are likely to develop into a moderate tropical depression in the next 24 hours.
According to the latest weather forecast from PAGASA at 8:00 AM on August 21, the low pressure area LPA 08f, formerly known as "Neneng", is outside PAR. This system has the potential to moderately redevelop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
LPA 08f was previously tracked as a tropical cyclone in the region. After weakening, the system was reclassified by PAGASA as a low pressure area.
Meanwhile, LPA 08h is also outside PAR and is assessed to have an average possibility of strengthening into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.
According to previous updated information from PAGASA, LPA 08h was monitored outside PAR and was not predicted to have a significant impact on this country in the short term.
Besides the 2 low pressure areas, tropical storm Saudel is also being monitored outside PAR.
Typhoon Saudel is currently about 2,735km east of the Philippines, with maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 115 km/h. The typhoon is moving west-northwest at a speed of about 25 km/h. PAGASA forecasts that Saudel may enter PAR on August 23. 8.
If Saudel enters PAR, the system will be locally named "Obet" by the Philippines. PAGASA also warned that Saudel could strengthen the southwest monsoon (Habagat) from August 23-25, thereby causing rain to return in some areas of Luzon.
While waiting for the developments of weather systems, PAGASA recommends that people continue to follow official news and the latest updates from the meteorological agency.
Currently, experts are still continuing to monitor the development potential of the 2 low pressure areas as well as Saudel's movement direction as this system approaches the Philippines.
