According to storm news, the latest low pressure from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), two low pressure areas are being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), in which one system is highly likely to develop into a tropical depression.
According to the updated bulletin at 4:00 AM on September 12 (Philippines time), low pressure area LPA 09b is located about 970km west of the southwest of Luzon Island, at 14.1 degrees North latitude and 112.1 degrees East longitude. PAGASA assesses that this system is highly likely to strengthen into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.
This is a more noteworthy low pressure area among the two systems being monitored due to the location of LPA 09b in the East Sea area, west of the Philippines.
Meanwhile, low pressure LPA 09c is located about 1,870km east of Mindanao Island, at 9.2 degrees north latitude and 143.3 degrees east longitude. This system is also outside PAR but is unlikely to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.
Besides the developments of the two low pressure areas, the trench of LPA 09b is affecting the northwest of Luzon, bringing scattered rain and thunderstorms.
According to PAGASA, some areas north of the Philippines may experience cloudiness, rain and thunderstorms due to the influence of the low pressure trough. The southwest monsoon (Habagat) will also continue to cause rain in many places in the Philippines, while local thunderstorms may appear in other areas.
PAGASA recommends continuing to monitor updated bulletins on the developments of the two low pressure areas.
