On November 19, Polish and its allies were deployed to ensure the safety of Polish airspace after detecting Russia conducting airstrikes targeting western Ukraine near the border with Poland, according to the NATO member country's armed forces.
express-range fighter jets and an early warning aircraft have taken off, and ground radar anti-aircraft and monitoring systems have reached the highest level of readiness, the combat command said in a post on X.
Although there was no information about the attacks in the west on November 19, on the same day, Russia used missiles and UAVs ( drones) to attack Kharkiv - Ukraine's second largest city.
Ukrainian officials said a building in Kharkiv was hit, a fire broke out and injured at least five people. The damage occurred after Russian UAVs ( drones) attacked the two central districts of Slobidskyi and Osnovyansky in turn.
According to regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov, Russia used 11 UAVs in the airstrike, while Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said 22 residents had been evacuated from part of the damaged building.
Mr. Terekhov also added that another UAV crashed near a medical facility, injuring a doctor and causing damage to the building and many cars parked around it.
Kharkiv is located in the northeastern part of Ukraine, about 30km from the Russian border, and has successfully resisted Russian attacks during the early stages of the conflict that began in February 2022. The city has so far been a frequent target of airstrikes.
Also on November 19, the airport of the southern Russian city of Krasnodar was forced to temporarily suspend flights to ensure safety when a series of explosions were detected around the vicinity, according to civil aviation agency Rosaviatsiya.
It is not yet clear whether the cause was an attack or an incident involving industrial parks around Krasnodar, including the Ilsky refinery and the Novorossiisk oil port.
