The storm forecast bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that at 10:00 a.m. on November 5, the center of storm Marce (local name of the Philippines) was at about 16.4 degrees north latitude; 127.1 degrees east longitude, 590km east of Baler, Aurora.
The strongest wind near the storm center is 120 km/h, gusting up to 150 km/h, central pressure 970 hPa. The storm winds spread 580 km from the storm center. The storm moves west-northwest at a speed of 30 km/h.
Several areas in the Philippines are under Tropical Storm Wind Signal No. 1: Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra... These areas are expected to experience strong winds of 39-61 km/h for at least 36 hours or intermittent rains within 36 hours.
Regarding the sea situation in the next 24 hours: Rough to very rough seas with waves up to 6m in the coasts of Batanes and Babuyan Islands; east coast of mainland Cagayan; Strong to very rough seas with waves up to 5.5m in the coast of Isabela; 5m waves in the north coast of Ilocos Norte and mainland Cagayan; 4.5m waves in the west coast of Ilocos Norte.
Typhoon Marce is expected to move mainly west-northwest today until tomorrow morning (November 6) before slowing down and turning westward over the Philippine Sea east of Northernmost Luzon.
Based on the forecast track, Typhoon Marce may make landfall in the vicinity of Babuyan Islands or across the northern part of mainland Cagayan late Thursday (November 7) or early Friday (November 8).
Due to uncertainty over the strength of the high pressure area north of Typhoon Marce, the forecast track could still change and bring landfall to the Cagayan-Isabela mainland region.
Typhoon Marce could exit the Philippine forecast area (PAR) on Friday evening (November 8) or early Saturday morning (November 9), entering the East Sea and becoming the seventh typhoon in the East Sea this year.
Typhoon Marce is expected to continue to strengthen and may reach peak intensity before it can make landfall in the Babuyan or Cagayan Islands, bringing strong winds, heavy rains and rough seas in Northern Luzon.
