The latest storm and low pressure information from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on December 14 said that as of the morning of December 14, no low pressure areas have appeared in the Philippine forecast area.
PAGASA weather forecasters also confirmed that the possibility of tropical storm formation in the next 3 days is very low or almost non-existent.
Previously, in the forecast released on December 12 for the development of storms and depressions near the Philippines until December 25, PAGASA stated that a low pressure is likely to form during the week from December 19 to December 25 in the southeast area of the Philippine forecast area. This low pressure is unlikely to strengthen into a storm or tropical depression.
Good weather forecast for most of the Philippines. However, there is still a possibility of local thunderstorms in Visayas and Mindanao. Light rain is forecast in Luzon due to 3 weather systems affecting the Philippines.
PAGASA weather expert Obet Badrina said that the northeast monsoon will continue to persist in the northern areas of Luzon.
Meanwhile, wind shear is affecting central and southern Luzon as well as possibly causing rain in Aurora and Quezon.
The bulletin states that the Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions will have fog with scattered showers and thunderstorms until December 16 due to the influence of wind shear.
The easterly winds are expected to affect eastern Mindanao, especially the Caraga and Davao regions. PAGASA's Visayas Regional Services Center (PRSD) also reported that the easterly winds are affecting Visayas and Palawan.
In Cebu, December 14 is forecast to be partly cloudy to cloudy with showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA issued a strong wind warning to Batanes, the northern coast of Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands, and the northern coast of Ilocos Norte on the morning of December 14.
Moderate to strong seas may be recorded in central and southern Luzon, while the rest of the Philippines will see light to moderate winds.
Be careful with any localized thunderstorms that could cause large waves, which could endanger small boats, warns forecaster Obet Badrina.
