On December 11, the Thai Meteorological Department issued Weather Warning No. 4 for heavy to very heavy rain in the south and strong winds and big waves in the Gulf of Thailand, expected to affect from December 11-16. Northern Thailand will also experience unstable weather with thunderstorms and sharp drop temperatures.
From December 11-13, rainfall will increase across the south, with heavy rain in many areas of Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ranong, Phang Nga, Trang and Satun, and heavy to very heavy rain in Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat.
The reason is that a low pressure area in the southern East Sea will move through the southern tip of Vietnam, the Gulf of Thailand and southern Thailand.
From December 14-16, the southern part of Thailand will continue to have heavy rain in many places due to the northeast monsoon. Winds and waves in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea will also strengthen. Waves will be 2-3m high, possibly up to more than 3m in thunderstorms.
For the northern part of Thailand, the meteorological agency forecasts unstable weather with scattered thunderstorms from December 11-13. After that, the temperature will decrease by 2-4 degrees Celsius, due to the strong cold air from China spreading throughout Thailand.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that last night and this morning (December 11), in the Southwest region, there was rain, moderate rain, and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain.
Rainfall from 7pm on December 10 to 8am on December 11 was over 80mm in some places such as the stations: Vinh Trung (Can Tho City) 147mm, Dien Hai (Ca Mau) 123mm.
Forecast: On December 11, the Southwestern region will have rain, moderate rain with common rainfall of 15-30mm, locally heavy rain over 50mm.
Regarding the weather forecast at sea, during the day and night of December 11, the sea area east of the northern East Sea (including the east of the Hoang Sa special zone) will have strong northeast winds of level 6, gusting to level 7-8; rough seas with waves 2.0-4.0m high.
During the day and night of December 11, the sea area from Ca Mau to An Giang and the Gulf of Thailand will have scattered showers and thunderstorms; there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind of level 6-7.
Regarding cold air forecast, in the Northern and North Central regions from December 13, the weather will turn cold, in the mountainous and midland areas of the North from December 13-14, it will be very cold, in the high mountains there will be some places with severe cold; in the Northern Delta, there will be some places with severe cold.

The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the mountainous and midland areas of the North is generally from 7-10 degrees Celsius, in high mountainous areas, some places are below 5 degrees Celsius; in the plains, it is generally from 11-14 degrees Celsius; in the North Central region, it is generally from 12-15 degrees Celsius.
Hanoi area: On the night of December 12 and 13, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes, hail and strong gusts of wind; from December 13, the weather will turn cold, some places will be very cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is generally 12-14 degrees Celsius.
