The Dutch Ministry of Defense confirmed that it will deploy F-35 fighter jets to Poland for 3 months, starting from September 1.
The move aims to strengthen NATO airspace monitoring, deter potential threats and ensure safety for military aid transport routes to Ukraine.
The deployment is carried out at a direct request from the NATO Central Command in Europe (SHAPE), in the context that Eastern Europe continues to play an important role in the defense strategy of this military alliance.
The operation is in coordination with Norway, which has also deployed its F-35 squad to Poland since June 30. The aircraft will be on duty 24 hours a day, ready to intercept any violations of NATO airspace.
The F-35, a fighter developed by lockheed Martin, is the 5th generation of multi-purpose fighters considered the most modern in the world. The aircraft integrates stealth capabilities, advanced aviation electronic systems and the ability to merge network data, allowing real-time sharing of battlefield information between allied forces.
The F-35 is designed to carry out both superior aerial missions and high-precision ground attacks. With new-generation sensors, the aircraft plays a pivotal role in NATO's air force strength structure, especially in the context of increasing security risks in Eastern Europe.
The deployment of the F-35 to Poland is a clear demonstration of NATO's collective defense commitment, while reflecting Poland's increasingly important role as a center for logistics coordination and military aid transportation to Ukraine.
Observers say the presence of modern fighters such as the F-35 on the eastern flank of NATO not only has tactical significance but also a strong political message, expressing solidarity and a clear warning to any force that threatens regional security.
