The landslide occurred in a village of more than 609 square meters in the Kråkneset region of Alta town, Norway on the afternoon of June 3. Police received a report of the incident at 3:45 p.m. and a rescue operation was immediately deployed both by air and sea, according to Forbes.
Express reported that a villager, Jan Egil Bakkeby, noticed a crack in the slope from his cabin on June 2 before it rained. When the earthquake occurred on June 3, he ran away from home, climbed a hill and recorded this horrifying scene.
Finnmark police chief Torfinn Halvari said: "We have as much as one house, one hut and one dog that escaped the rabies."
The landslide swept a dog named Raya out to sea. After that, a helicopter of Squadron No. 330 tried to rescue the dog from the sea.
Commenting on the shocking video, science blogger Dave Petley said that these images are "really noteworthy".
Everyone in the area was safe and no injuries were reported.
The video of the village collapsing into the sea has gone viral on social media. A Twitter user said: "It's terrible! I am very happy to know that no one was hurt." Another person shared: "It's crazy. Even the earth wants to escape 2020". "Oh my, that was scary and sad" - another social media user wrote.
