Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem on July 8 declared that the group will continue to maintain military operations "on the ground" to confront Israel, while rejecting the framework of the agreement mediated by the US between Lebanon and Israel.
Xinhua reported that in a televised statement on Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV channel, Mr. Qassem said that the group had prevented efforts to eliminate "resistance forces", and Israel "will not have stability until liberated".
Mr. Qassem said the negotiations violated the constitutional and legal principles of Lebanon. He declared that the agreement "will not be approved" and the Lebanese authorities will not be able to implement any provisions of this document.
On June 26, Lebanon and Israel signed a framework agreement brokered by the United States in Washington to end hostilities along the border.
