Iran sets conditions to resume negotiations with the US

Iran rejects the possibility of resuming negotiations with the US until Washington meets the conditions set by Tehran to end the conflict.

On September 15, according to AFP, Iran rejected the possibility of resuming negotiations with the US after President Donald Trump declared Washington ready to discuss the conflict in the Middle East.

Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Mr. Mohsen Rezaei, warned against being distracted by changing messages from the US, after Mr. Trump signaled his willingness to resume dialogue with Tehran.

No negotiations until Iran's conditions are met," Mr. Rezaei wrote on social network X, while saying that the situation related to oil and maritime routes has changed.

The statement by Iranian officials came a day after Mr. Trump said the US was ready to negotiate with Iran, after weeks of asserting it was too early to reach an agreement to end the conflict.

The failed Iranian nation wants to quickly reach an agreement and needs that agreement very much. I will decide whether the US chooses to participate or not," Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.

Iran has previously repeatedly made conditions to end the conflict and the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, including demanding compensation for damages and lifting sanctions.

The Strait of Hormuz is an important shipping route for global oil transportation. Iran's blockade of this shipping route has become one of the central issues in the conflict in the Middle East.

New developments show that although the US is signaling readiness for dialogue, Iran has not yet agreed to resume negotiations and continues to link the possibility of negotiation with meeting the conditions set by this country.
