The US diplomatic mission to Vietnam officially launched a series of activities "30 years of US-Vietnam relations" to celebrate 3 decades of diplomatic relations between the two countries, while reaffirming the US's commitment to further promote bilateral relations and expand cooperation within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Over the past 30 years, the US-Vietnam relationship has developed into a strong partnership to promote common economic and security goals. In just 30 years, the common interests of the two countries have expanded in many fields such as diplomacy, health, education, security and economic development. The principle of mutual respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political institutions is the only threads and connections in these areas.
From promoting economic growth to expanding educational and cultural exchanges, deepening security and defense cooperation, the US-Vietnam partnership is opening up many opportunities and promoting innovation, especially in high-tech fields.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, we aim for deeper and more effective cooperation. Despite many proud achievements, we must not rest on our laurels, but continue to strive for a brighter and more prosperous future for the people of the two countries. The US is committed to supporting a strong, prosperous, independent and resilient Vietnam, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper emphasized.
This year's series of activities also emphasizes the role of the young generation in shaping the future of US-Vietnam relations, considering the young generation as a symbol of success in the partnership between the two countries.
Last March, a higher education delegation of 40 leaders from 21 American universities visited Vietnam to strengthen academic cooperation with Vietnamese partners. At the end of June, a special youth exchange program will also take place, with 14 Vietnamese high school students and 2 teachers in charge going to the US to exchange for 3 weeks.
The Consul General of the US in Ho Chi Minh City Susan Burns shared: Our partnership has opened up opportunities for young people from both countries to cooperate and learn from each other and gain new perspectives; thereby, equipping the younger generations in the US and Vietnam to suit their development, discovery and success in the context of multicultural cooperation.
Within the framework of the series of activities, the US Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam announced the logo commemorating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, inspired by the logo design for the 25th anniversary by artist Tran Hoai Duc. This original commemorative symbol depicts the image of the US and Vietnamese national flags crammed together in the form of a tour guide on the wing, expressing a common commitment to peace.
Following that spirit, the mascot of the series of activities is the combination of the Dai Bang and Lac birds - the national symbols of the US and Vietnam. These two images are a vivid symbol of the strong solidarity and aspiration to rise up the US-Vietnam partnership.
In addition, the US Diplomatic mission to Vietnam coordinated with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) to organize a series of Friendship Exchanges in many cities across Vietnam. The first festival will take place from 15:00 on June 22, at Phan Dang Luu Street, Da Nang City.
