The incident occurred with flight AI2744 flying from Cochin International Airport in Kerala to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
Mumbai Airport confirmed that there were minor damages to the airport's main runway due to a slipping incident from the runway.
A side runway has been activated to ensure continuous operation of the airport.
Indian airline Air India said that all passengers and crew members had left the plane, but did not say whether anyone was injured.
Air India confirmed that the Airbus A320 that had an accident had been suspended for inspection.
Indian media also pointed out that the three tires exploded after landing. Images of the crashed plane show that the engine's exterior was damaged, with some clear cracks.
