On the afternoon of July 6, Thanh Hai Border Guard Station (Command of the Border Guard Command of Lam Dong province) had initial information about the accident between a fishing boat and a cargo ship that occurred at sea.
According to initial information, the incident occurred in an area about 10 nautical miles southeast of Phu Hai Port Cape.

At the above time, the fishing vessel with registration number BTh 98379 TS, capacity 420CV, was fishing when it collided with the cargo ship Viet Thuan 11-07. The collision caused the fishing vessel to sink.
There were 17 crew members on board, owned and captained by Mr. Phan Van Chi (born 1972, residing in Phu Thuy ward, Lam Dong province).
Immediately after the accident, fishing boats operating near the area quickly approached and rescued the crew members. However, 1 crew member died. Another fishing boat was carrying 15 crew members in stable health and 1 crew member's body ashore. Currently, one crew member remains at the scene to watch over the wreckage of the sunken fishing boat.
It is expected that at about 2 pm on the same day, the ship carrying the fishermen and the victims' bodies will dock at Phu Hai Port for functional agencies to receive and carry out procedures according to regulations.
Meanwhile, the cargo ship involved in the incident will also enter the port to work with functional agencies to clarify the cause of the accident.
