The above figure is currently very low compared to the target set in this strategy, which is to reach 71 countries in the world, but enough to have an encouraging effect on Mr. Trump.
Mr. Trump really needs such initial results because the above strategy is completely different from the policies of predecessors who support countries around the world in health and care. The detail here is that Mr. Trump's strategy sets many conditions for receiving US support in the field of health and care that not every country can easily be willing to accept.
Mr. Trump's strategy is essentially to link global health and health issues with the national interests of the United States. It is based on 3 pillars: protecting the United States from the spread of disease outbreaks outside the United States, promoting bilateral cooperation for partners to reduce the level of cooperation with multilateral organizations and partners, and encouraging the private economic and financial circles and religious organizations to participate.
The fundamental difference compared to the past here is that Mr. Trump has reduced the level of US aid and financial contributions to support countries around the world in health and safety by nearly half; US support is no longer zero-sum as before but goes along with conditions such as countries having to "pay counterpart funds" which are often at a level twice the level of US aid and support, having to accept for the US to access and use relevant data, inspect and supervise on the spot, not to discriminate against Catholics or have to cooperate with the US in counter-terrorism.
Mr. Trump uses the above strategy to turn the way the US has always supported countries in health and safety into a business deal that benefits the US in politics and security, diplomacy and economy.
Countries that want US assistance must have counterparts for the US in the form of counterpart funds, accepting conditions or serving other US interests. Because of this, although Mr. Trump has achieved initial results, it is not easy to achieve the set goal of having agreements with at least 71 countries in the world.
