On November 23 (Switzerland time), top officials from the US, Ukraine and national security advisers from France, the UK and Germany held talks in Geneva, Switzerland to discuss the US draft plan to end the conflict in Ukraine.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US President's special advisor, Mr. Steve Witkoff, attended the negotiations. Daniel Driscoll, US Army Secretary, also arrived in Geneva ahead of the talks.
The Ukrainian delegation was led by Andriy Yermak, Chief of the Office of the President of Ukraine, along with other senior security officials.
National security advisers from the E3 alliance (France, UK and Germany) along with representatives from Italy and the European Union (EU) will also participate.
The US 28-point plan calls for Ukraine to cede territory, accept military limits and abandon ambitions to join NATO.
US President Donald Trump said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has until November 27 to approve the plan.
Mr. Trump said that his current proposal is not a final offer. "We hope to resolve the final details... to draft a deal that benefits them (Ukraine)," a US official said.
The official said "Nothing is agreed upon until the two presidents meet," referring to Trump and Zelensky.
Before the talks, Mr Zelensky warned that Ukraine was at risk of losing its dignity and freedom - or Washington's support - for this plan.
Russian President Vladimir Putin described the plan as the basis for a solution to end the conflict. However, Moscow may object to some proposals in the plan, which require Russian forces to withdraw from some areas under its control.
