On December 11, reputable sources from Washington revealed that the US government is seriously considering a strategic plan to restructure the global power order. The focus of this plan is the establishment of a new intergovernmental group called "Core 5" (abbreviated as C5 - Group 5 of core countries).
The list of expected members of this "power club" includes the top 5 powers: the US, Russia, China, India and Japan.
According to leaked documents from the unpublished version of the US National Security Strategy, the White House is seeking a new cooperation mechanism between superpowers, escaping the constraints of strict and y thucistic regulations like in the current G7 group.
The priority goal in the C5 group's agenda is expected to focus on addressing global hot spots, starting from the complex situation in the Middle East and accelerating the normallization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Although the representative of the White House refused to officially confirm the existence of this plan, national security experts said that the C5 idea is completely consistent with the practical thinking of the current government.
Experts say that Mr. Trump has a very practical mindset, not bound by political barriers or ideology. Instead of spending time on bulky traditional alliances, he prioritizes direct cooperation with leaders in power and major powers with a decisive voice in their region.
The most controversial point of the C5 proposal is the complete absence of European representatives. Observers warn that removing the old continent from the new power circle will send a worrying signal. It could make European allies believe that the US is implicitly recognizing Russia as a Supreme Power with the right to maintain its own area of influence in the region without US intervention.
Previously, on December 5, the White House announced a new National Security Strategy with a turning point change. Washington has affirmed that it will abandon the view of considering itself the sole responsible person for global order. Instead, the US prioritizes seeking stability with neighboring powers such as Russia, while not hesitating to publicize the existing rifts with traditional allies in Europe.
