The Ministry of Education and Training responds to the proposal not to ban teachers from teaching regular students
The National Assembly Standing Committee discussed the Draft Law on Teachers, focusing on regulations related to extra teaching and learning. Chairman of the Delegation Work Committee Nguyen Thanh Hai said that the regulation of "not forcing students to take extra classes" is a step forward, but there is still a lack of a specific definition and a strong enough legal corridor to prevent profiteering, especially in the context of increasingly popular and uncontrollable online extra classes.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong supports the phrase "no compulsory" because it is suitable for the right to education of students and parents. However, he believes that it is unreasonable to prohibit teachers from teaching extra classes to their own students, because many students need to study with a familiar teacher to better understand the lesson.
Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son affirmed that Circular 29/2024 clearly stipulates that extra teaching is an activity outside the official curriculum, teachers need to fulfill their teaching responsibilities during regular school hours. Otherwise, teaching their own students can lead to violating professional ethics. See more...
Mr. Phan Van Mai: Teacher salaries need to be increased 2-3 times
The National Assembly Standing Committee discussed the revision of the Draft Law on Teachers. Chairman of the Committee on Culture and Society Nguyen Dac Vinh said that the new draft has 9 chapters and 45 articles and has accepted and clarified salary policies, allowances, policies to attract and promote teachers. Accordingly, public teachers' salaries will be ranked highest in the administrative career salary system, while non-public teachers will be applied according to labor law to avoid affecting the principles of autonomy of private educational institutions.

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee Phan Van Mai proposed that there should be an outstanding policy such as the current double or threefold salary to truly attract talented people to the teaching profession. He emphasized the need to clearly affirm the position and role of teachers in the Party's resolution and along with that is an attractive enough treatment regime to recruit and train a team of high-quality teachers for the future.
However, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son both said that the proposal to increase salaries by 2-3 times needs to be carefully considered in terms of budget and feasibility. See more...

Hanoi National University of Education removes academic performance requirements for 2025 admission
Hanoi National University of Education has just adjusted its university admission information for 2025. Accordingly, method 1 (based on high school graduation exam results) no longer requires 3 years of high school academic performance with a Good classification or a graduation score of 8.0 or higher. Candidates only need to have graduated from high school, have good conduct and take the correct exam for admission. For talent majors, candidates must take a talent competition organized by the school. The specific admission scores will be announced later based on the scores and regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Method 2 prioritizes admission for candidates with academic performance and good conduct for 3 years of high school (except for talent majors that can reach the level of Part-time or higher), but eliminates the requirement of a graduation score of 8.0 or higher. In addition to academic conditions, candidates must also meet specific criteria set by the school. Method 3 is to apply based on the scores of the specialized competency assessment exam of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Boarding Schools, requiring excellent grade 12 academic performance or a graduation score of 8.0 or higher.
The school still conducts direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, then reviews the remaining methods for each major. See more...
