According to Xinhua News Agency, the Pautina system developed by RT-Project Technologies, a subsidiary of Rostec, consists of modular metal structures, forming a protective net surrounding the structure to intercept unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Rostec announced that the Pautina system can intercept UAVs weighing up to 200kg, flying at speeds up to 250 km/h, and is designed to protect key structures such as oil storage tanks, transformer stations and many other types of industrial infrastructure.
Currently, the system is being test-deployed at a number of facilities in the fields of fuel and energy. According to Rostec, Pautina has the ability to protect structures over 25m high and is suitable for many different infrastructure scales.
The Pautina system was introduced in the context of increasing UAV attacks by Ukraine on Russia's energy infrastructure, including large oil refineries such as the Omsk refinery and the Moscow refinery.
Russian officials said that the attacks have affected domestic fuel supplies, forcing the government to temporarily restrict the export of some oil products to stabilize the market.
