Speaking at a press conference on September 19 on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2025), Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki said that during the visit to Vietnam by Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru in April 2025, Japan reaffirmed that Vietnam is an important and irreplaceable partner.

In the field of science and technology, the two countries promote cooperation in semiconductor chips and artificial intelligence (AI). From October 2025, 60 Vietnamese graduate students will begin training courses at Japanese universities. Viet Nhat University will also open a semiconductor technology training program for 100 students.

Regarding green transformation, the two sides are implementing 15 clean energy projects worth 20 billion USD. Japan is considering providing a $300 million loan for wind power, liquefaction and environmental projects. In October, JICA will coordinate with the Hanoi government to start construction of metro line 2.

Economic cooperation also recorded a development step when bilateral trade turnover increased 1.8 times over the past 10 years, with Japan's accumulated investment in Vietnam reaching 80 billion USD.

In the security - defense cooperation, the two sides are preparing for high-level dialogue and plans to provide equipment and technology for defense, thereby contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the region.

Ambassador Ito Naoki affirmed that Japan will accompany Vietnam in the new era with the goal of becoming a developed country with high income. This is a major goal, requiring strong reform, and Japan expressed its admiration for the efforts that Vietnam is making.
