Russian President Vladimir Putin said on September 3 that there is a chance to end the conflict in Ukraine through negotiations, the method he hopes to achieve, but he is also ready to end this conflict by force if that is the only way.
Speaking in Beijing, President Putin viewed "a sparkling light at the end of the tunnel", considering the US's sincere efforts to seek a solution to Europe's largest on-land conflict since World War II.
"I think that if we had always been given top priority, we could have reached an acceptable solution to end this conflict. That is my assumption," Putin said.
The Russian leader added: "This is especially true when we can clearly see the attitude of the current US administration under President Donald Trump, not only through statements but also in the sincere desire to find solutions. I think there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Let's wait and see how the situation develops. Otherwise, we will be forced to resolve all immediate tasks by force."
Mr. Putin said he is ready to negotiate with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky if Mr. Zelensky arrives in Moscow. However, this meeting needs to be carefully prepared and achieve clear results.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister rejected the proposal to choose Moscow as the venue for a meeting between the two leaders, stressing that this was an "un Acceptable" option.
