On July 22 (US time), US President Donald Trump accused former President Barack Obama of treason for claiming that Trump led a plot to undermine his 2016 election campaign, through linking him with Russia. However, Mr. Trump did not provide any concrete evidence for this accusation.
Speaking from the Oval Office, Mr. Trump emphasized: He is guilty. This is an act of treason". Mr Trump cited the statement of US National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, who released several decentralization documents and accused senior officials in the Trump administration of colluding to hinder Mr Trump's victory in 2016.
Trump's spokesman has denied the allegations, calling them "a weak effort to distract public opinion."
A 2017 assessment by the US intelligence community confirmed that Russia had interfered in the election with fake media campaigns, cyber attacks and the use of sites such as WikiLeaks to disadvantage Ms. Hillary Trump and support Mr. Trump. However, the conclusion said that there was no evidence that Russia changed the election results.
A 2020 report from the Senate Intelligence Committee continued to confirm that Russia was using figures such as Mr. Paul Manafort, WikiLeaks and other propaganda campaigns to support Mr. Trump. However, there is no document that denies the conclusion that Russia cannot manipulate votes.
In recent days, Mr. Trump reposted on the social network Truth Social a fake video of Mr. Trump being held captive. He also shifted attention away from conservative pressure on the Jeffrey Epstein case by increasing attacks targeting Trump and Trump, accusing them of plotting a coup.
