US President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with leaders of the Gulf countries on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss post-conflict strategy with Iran.

According to TASS, on September 16 (Washington time), US President Donald Trump is planning to hold a high-level meeting on Iran with leaders and foreign ministers of the Gulf countries, taking place on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on September 22 with the participation of representatives of 6 countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), including Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman and Saudi Arabia.

The focus of the discussion session was Washington's proposals and orientations for post-war strategy to shape the future of the region after the conflict with Iran.

Military conflict between the US-Israeli and Iranian coalitions broke out on February 28. By June, Washington and Tehran had signed a memorandum of understanding on an immediate ceasefire on all fronts, including the Lebanese battlefield.

However, clashes flared up again on the night of July 8 when the US reopened large-scale airstrikes, accusing Tehran of violating maritime safety agreements in the Strait of Hormuz. This is the artery that transports about 25% of the world's oil and 20% of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

After a period of military escalation, the Trump administration recently signaled the end of large-scale armed intervention campaigns, shifting its focus to efforts to tighten sanctions to isolate and exert comprehensive economic pressure on Tehran.

Previously, the head of the White House revealed that Tehran had signaled its desire for peace negotiations, opening up hopes for an early end to the prolonged series of tense conflicts.
