Although the report from Ukraine did not specify the exact location of the attack, observers said the incident took place in the city of Chernihiv, located in the north of the country.
According to official information on Telegram, the airstrike caused direct damage to training units of the ground force, under the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"Although security measures have been taken, unfortunately, it is inevitable that there will be complete losses in personnel," the Ukrainian military announced. The injured soldiers are being treated.
After that, Ukraine established an investigation team to find out the cause of the security vulnerability in the area being attacked.
The military said that if it was determined that the casualties stemmed from the lack of responsibility or actions of the officials, "the culprits must take responsibility".
Additional security measures, the report said, are also being taken to protect military personnel from missile attacks or other airstrikes on training facilities.
Russia has yet to make an official comment.
In June, Russia had earlier attacked a training ground in central Ukraine, killing 12 soldiers and injuring dozens others. The incident forced the commander of the Ukrainian ground forces to resign.
