With EDIP, the EU pursues the goal of gradually moving towards autonomy in defense and security, that is, ensuring the security of EU members and for the whole of Europe without having to depend on the US as before.
In fact, this program is a huge amount of money that the EU spends to promote the strong development of the military and defense industry in the EU, increase self-production, self-provision of weapons and equipment, and important military and defense, build enough national defense and military capacity to promptly respond to all security challenges and threats, and ensure security.
EDIP helps the EU strengthen intra-bloc cooperation, encourage EU members to increase investment in developing the military and defense industries, and optimize the efficiency of resource use. EDIP also creates a necessary legal basis for the EU to continue supporting Ukraine in the current conflict with Russia.
EDIS and EDIP are the result of an EU awareness of the negative impact of current developments in Europe. Without the Ukrainian conflict and its subsequent developments, the EU certainly would not have to mobilize itself in the fields of military, defense and security.
The EU must support Ukraine so that Ukraine does not lose to Russia and must make efforts to be strong enough in terms of military and defense to deal with Russia in the context of the US becoming an unable to be trusted ally for a long time.
The lease to the US to ensure security has become an "achilles heel" for the EU, especially now and in the future. Therefore, EDIP and EDIS have a vital strategic significance for EU security. They make the EU more confident and stronger in its relations with both the US and Russia, while attracting partners to invest in the EU's defense and military industries. At the time of forcing the EU to mobilize itself and in fact, the EU has done it.
