On the morning of December 13, Hanoi City Police officially inaugurated the Smart Traffic Control Center, operating a system of 1,837 cameras and a lighting system using artificial intelligence (AI).
The event marked an important step forward in smart traffic management and operation, improving the effectiveness of state management of security and order, effectively serving the socio-economic development tasks of the capital.

The Smart Traffic Control Center has an AI analysis server system, a system of security equipment, ensuring that it can meet the standards to connect to the vehicle registration system and national residential facilities...
For the AI camera system, the goal is not only to "reeze", but also to reduce congestion, modernize infrastructure, improve State management capacity and build a civilized urban lifestyle.
The newly operated AI camera system is capable of automatically detecting and handling up to 23 violations, installed and measuring traffic at 195 intersections, 25 key routes and bridges.
At the same time, the camera is capable of recognizing vehicle license plates and recording traffic violations accurately and completely.
All of the above violations are stored in the system to serve the purpose of handling violations of traffic order and safety and looking up data later.
Not only serving traffic management, the database system also improves the effectiveness of the task of ensuring security and order, supporting the identification of subjects according to faces and characteristics, thereby supporting the investigation, tracing, handling of violations and managing the area.

For the Smart Traffic Light Controller, this system will use real-time traffic data to automatically set up control mode and adjust the green/red light cycle, reducing waiting time to control.
The green wave line on the main axes helps vehicles move at a stable speed, continuously encountering green lights and optimizing traffic through the entire route. The smart traffic light controller can also set a green wave for priority vehicles thanks to the automatic identification device opening a green light and stopping other vehicles to effectively serve the tour of the group.
Some routes that we have tested and successfully, such as Hue Street - Hang Bai, Tran Hung Dao... have increased the speed of vehicles, from 17km/h (old) to 30 - 35km/h, Lieutenant Colonel Dao Viet Long - Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police said.
In the coming time, the artificial intelligence (AI) lighting system will continue to be deployed at 100% of intersections. AI cameras are installed on provincial and inter-commune roads...
