On the morning of October 26, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim chaired a welcoming ceremony for Heads of Delegations attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed leaders of ASEAN countries and ASEAN partner countries and ASEAN organizations including: King of Brunei; Presidents of Indonesia, the Philippines, Timor Leste, Brazil, South Africa; Prime Ministers of Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Canada; President of the European Council, Secretary General of the United Nations.
Taking place from October 26 to 28, the 47th ASEAN Summit includes nearly 20 sessions and high-level activities.
It is expected that the leaders will sign, approve and record nearly 80 documents to promote ASEAN cooperation and between ASEAN and partners in many priority areas, especially the economy, trade, etc.
In particular, ASEAN is expected to officially admit Timor Leste as the 11th member of the bloc.
Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led the Vietnamese delegation to attend the conference, continuing to affirm Vietnam's active participation and responsible contribution to the overall success of the conferences; maintaining solidarity, consensus, and enhancing connectivity in ASEAN; for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in ASEAN and the world.
