Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh holds phone talks with Thai Prime Minister

On the afternoon of October 21, 2025, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a phone call with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister respectfully conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Vietnamese leaders to the King and Queen of Thailand; congratulated Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul on being approved by the King as Prime Minister of Thailand; and believed that the Thai Government and people of Thailand will continue to achieve even greater achievements in the cause of national construction and development. The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to and wishes to develop the Vietnam - Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership increasingly strongly, trustingly and substantially.

The Thai Prime Minister thanked the Prime Minister for sending letters and congratulatory calls on the occasion of his new position; emphasized that Vietnam is a close neighbor and an important partner of Thailand in the region; highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements; affirmed his readiness to cooperate with the Vietnamese Prime Minister to enhance comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace and stability in the region.

The two leaders were pleased that Vietnam and Thailand upgraded their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May 2025; assessed that cooperation between the two countries is developing strongly and effectively in all fields, in which Thailand continues to hold the position of largest trading partner and the second largest foreign investor of Vietnam in ASEAN.

The Prime Minister affirmed that he will continue to facilitate Thai businesses to do business effectively in Vietnam; hopes that the two sides will cooperate closely to promote transport connectivity in the region; strengthen cooperation in security, culture, education - training, people-to-people exchanges, facilitate and promote the role of a bridge of friendship between the people of the two countries.

The Thai Prime Minister agreed with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the need for close coordination, striving to soon bring two-way trade turnover to 25 billion USD/year; strengthening the connection between the two economies through the effective implementation of the "Three Connections" Strategy.

The Thai Prime Minister thanked the Vietnamese Government for creating conditions for Thai enterprises to invest and do business in Vietnam; expressed his wish that more Vietnamese enterprises will invest in Thailand, especially in the fields of industry, agriculture, and technology; affirmed that the Thai Government will create the best conditions for Vietnamese enterprises, aiming to more balance the investment value between the two countries.

Discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Vietnam and Thailand continue to cooperate closely, strengthen solidarity and the central role of ASEAN, and sustainably develop the Mekong sub-region.

On this occasion, the Thai Prime Minister respectfully invited the Prime Minister to visit Thailand and attend the Mekong - Lan Thuong Summit at the end of this year; hoping to soon meet and exchange directly on the occasion of the two Prime Ministers attending multilateral conferences such as the ASEAN Summit in the coming time.
