Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is expected to meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin when attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Kyrgyzstan next week, Iranian state media reported on August 27.
According to information quoted by AFP from the official news agency IRNA, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said that Iranian President Pezeshkian "will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Kyrgyzstan, where he will have his sixth meeting" with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The planned meeting between the two leaders was arranged in the context that Iran has remained in a state of conflict with the US since February 28.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2026 is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 1, 2026 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan's capital.
