A 24m high copy of the freedom Lady in Brazil was knocked down by strong winds, according to local sources. The incident occurred in the city of Guaiba, near Porto Alegre, in the urban area of Rio Grande do Sul state. No casualties were recorded.
Previously, the local civil defense agency issued a red alert level due to strong winds. People are advised to stay indoors, remove electrical equipment and close doors and windows to ensure safety.
The statue is a replica of a famous project in New York (USA) and is owned by the Havan retail chain. The project is located in the parking lot near a store of this system. Because the parking lot was almost empty at the time of the incident, no one was affected.
videos appeared on social media recording the scene of some drivers trying to move their vehicles parked near the statue area while the project collapsed, showing the level of surprise of the incident.
In the statement, Havan said all the statues of the enterprise have technical liability records. In Guaiba alone, the project has been installed since the large supermarket opened in 2020. The company emphasizes that the top priority is the safety of customers, employees and the surrounding community.
