Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said that Russia could ask Ukraine to destroy all weapons provided by the West as a condition for a ceasefire as Moscow and Kiev prepare to enter a new potential round of talks, scheduled for June 22.
Mr. Grushko said that the process of destroying weapons must take place and take place openly, while warning that the massive arms assistance to the Kiev government could pose a major threat to the security of Western countries.
Deputy Minister Grushko argued that if they continue to supply Ukraine uncontrollably, European weapons are likely to be lost, thereby falling into the hands of international criminals and gradually flooding the black market. According to Mr. Grushko, this situation is inherently due to corruption plans.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has noted that the illegal arms trade in Ukraine is completely controlled by international organized crime under the protection of a number of Western organizations.
Moldova remains one of the main transit points for illegal weapons from Ukraine. They then went to Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Albania, where a Ukrainian arms smuggling center was set up.
This situation was also warned in a report by the Asian Observatory (Eurasia Observatory/EAS-Obs).
According to the report, Western-supported weapons stored in warehouses across Ukraine will become targets of criminal organizations once the war ends.
At that time, the martial law will likely be lifted, leading to a decline in the state's capacity and power in controlling civil life.
The subjects will take advantage of this loose time to break into weapons depots and smuggle stolen goods through neighboring countries, even the whole world.
According to Germany's Kiel Institute, up to now, Europe has allocated about 137 billion euros in aid to Ukraine, of which 50 billion euros is arms. This makes Ukraine a gold mine for international arms trafficking criminal organizations.
