Vietnam is ready to participate in international mediation efforts to seek a long-term peaceful solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

At the invitation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, implementing the Cooperation Plan between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko visited Vietnam from 20-21.2.2025 to hold a political consultation.

On the afternoon of February 21, 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang and Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrey Rudenco chaired a political consultation. The two sides expressed their delight at the positive developments in the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in recent times, in which delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially at high levels, have regularly taken place, creating a foundation for the two countries' relations to develop extensively.

The two sides affirmed their determination to maintain and strongly promote the development momentum of cooperation in all fields: politics, economy - trade, national defense - security, science - technology, education - training, culture, tourism... to maximize the potential of each country, meeting the development needs of the two countries.

The two sides agreed to effectively implement the Vietnam Free Trade Agreement - Asia- Europe Economic Union; carefully and substantially prepare and successfully for the high-level visits of the leaders of the two countries in 2025, a very special year to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and many major holidays of the two countries.

The two sides discussed the current situation in the world and the region, agreeing that it is necessary to further increase the exchange of views, information, coordination and mutual support at international organizations and multilateral forums, including the United Nations, to jointly contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world, protecting the interests of the people of the two countries.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed Vietnam's policy of supporting and being ready to participate in the mediation efforts of the international community to seek a long-term peaceful solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict with the participation of all relevant parties.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang thanked the Russian Foreign Ministry for always supporting and creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to legally work, live and study in Russia; suggested that the Russian side continue to pay attention to Vietnamese people in Russia, stabilize their lives and ensure security, safety of life and property, study visa exemption for Vietnamese citizens carrying ordinary passports, facilitate Vietnamese citizens to travel, visit relatives, and seek business opportunities in Russia to contribute to promoting bilateral relations.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that, for her part, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam will closely coordinate with functional agencies and the Russian side to facilitate and protect Russian citizens living, working and studying in Vietnam.

On the same day, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu received Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenco. Deputy Minister Rudenco affirmed that Russia attaches importance to the traditional cooperative relationship and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, wishes to promote effective cooperation with Vietnam and develop the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership substantially and dynamically in all fields.

Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu thanked Russia for supporting Vietnam's stance and hoped that Russia would continue to support Vietnam in maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for cooperation and development in the Asia-Pacific region.
