According to CNN, the shooting at Burnette Chapel Church in Antioch Quarter, Davidson County, a suburb of Nashville. The first call reported multiple gun shots at around 11:15 a.m. on September 24, police spokesman Don Aaron said.
The suspect opened fire on Melanie Smith, 39, outside before bringing two Pistols inside the church and dropping bullets into a crowd attending a Sunday service in the church. A woman was killed and seven others were injured, federal officials told Fox News.
The suspect, Emanuel Kidega Samson, 25, an Asian-American immigrant, was hospitalized after being hit by a bullet and arrested by police. The shooter will be charged with murder and attempted murder, spokesman Don Aaron said.
Currently, authorities are continuing to investigate a motive for the shooting.
