Bangkok Post reported that the collision occurred at around 00:30 on October 29 at an intersection on National Highway 24, Nong Ki District, buri Ram Province, Thailand. Both vehicles caught fire fiercely.
Part of the tanker truck's fuel overflowed onto the road and into the sewers.
The fire burned 10 stores, houses and about 20 cars and motorbikes parked on the road near the scene. The explosion shook the area, causing panic among residents.
The fire lasted about a kilometre. Although everyone tried to put out the fire, the fire spread. Afterwards, more than 50 fire trucks quickly arrived at the scene, while ambulances took the injured to the hospital.
Firefighters took more than 4 hours to control the fire.
The drivers of both vehicles were among the injured people taken to the hospital. Police said the tanker truck driver confessed to falling asleep before the accident.
The fuel company had to clear about 30,000 liters of remaining oil in the tanker truck for emergency teams to clear the scene.
Initial estimates of the damage amounted to millions of baht.
