Creating new momentum for bilateral relations
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu, this visit has 3 very special meanings. First of all, the visit marks a new beginning in bilateral relations as both countries enter a new stage of development: Vietnam enters a new era of development after the very successful XIV National Party Congress, China begins to implement the 15th Five-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan.
Second, the visit is a very important opportunity to enhance strategic cohesion and establish a new height for the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries. The highest leaders of the two Parties and the two countries will jointly identify new orientations and breakthroughs in economic and trade cooperation, investment and tourism, supply chain cooperation, production chain, education and training, science and technology, and strive to realize the goals and aspirations of each country's development.
Third, the visit will contribute to strengthening political trust, promoting solutions to remove some remaining differences and obstacles, strengthening people-to-people exchanges and local cooperation, thereby contributing to making the relationship between the two countries increasingly stable and sustainable, actively contributing to peace, stability, and cooperation in the region and in the world.
Vietnam - China relations clearly progress according to the "6 more" direction
Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu affirmed that Vietnam-China relations in the past time have maintained a positive development momentum, with many clear and relatively comprehensive progress according to the "6 more" orientation.
First, political trust between the two sides is consolidated and strengthened, continuing to promote the role of strategic orientation, leading bilateral relations to develop in all fields. Senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries maintain regular exchanges and contacts in many flexible forms. Typical are the two state visits of General Secretary and President To Lam (August 2024) and General Secretary and President Xi Jinping (April 2025) taking place in less than 1 year.
Second, cooperation in the fields of diplomacy, defense - security has many imprints and substantial changes. Notably, the two sides recently successfully organized the first session of the 3+3 Strategic Dialogue at the Ministerial level of Foreign Ministers, Defense, and Public Security within the framework of the 17th session of the Vietnam - China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee.
Third, substantive cooperation in all fields, especially economy - trade, investment, maintains strong development momentum, becoming a bright spot in the relationship between the two countries. Vietnam has maintained its position as China's largest trading partner in ASEAN for 10 consecutive years, and for two consecutive years (2024, 2025) as China's 4th largest trading partner in the world. China has been Vietnam's largest trading partner for many consecutive years.
Fourth, people-to-people exchanges, educational cooperation, culture, tourism, and local cooperation are taking place vibrantly.
Fifth, the two sides also maintain good coordination and cooperation in multilateral mechanisms; share views on supporting multilateralism with the United Nations as the center and international law as the foundation.
Sixth, the issue of borders, territory, and the overall land border situation maintain stability, the two sides jointly emphasized the importance of controlling and properly handling disagreements, contributing to maintaining a peaceful, stable and developing environment in the region.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu said that the achievements made in the past time are an important premise to open up breakthroughs, bringing the two countries' relations into a new stage of development at a new height, with new motivation and cooperation space during the State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam.
