On the afternoon of December 12, the Vietnam women's futsal team had a smooth start at the 33rd SEA Games when they defeated Indonesia with a score of 3-1 in the first match of Group B.
Entering the first half, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team controlled the ball well but encountered many difficulties in the disciplined play of Indonesia. The two teams created many dangerous opportunities, but the first 20 minutes ended without any goals scored.
In the second half, the Vietnam team accelerated and quickly broke the deadlock. In the 24th minute, Thuy Trang ran down to finish diagonally to open the score 1-0. Just a few minutes later, Thanh Ngan successfully converted the penalty, raising the score to 2-0 after a foul in Indonesia's penalty area.
After conceding two consecutive goals, Indonesia was forced to push the squad up. The black team created a few dangerous moves, including a shot against the post, but it was not enough to turn the situation. When Indonesia switched to power-play at the end of the match, Vietnam took advantage of the weakness to score the third goal in the 38th minute, raising the score to 3-0.
Indonesia's late efforts helped them score a goal to reduce 1-3 in the 39th minute, but that was all before the match ended.
With an impressive victory on the opening day, the Vietnam women's futsal team temporarily took the lead in Group B with 3 points, a goal difference of +2, thereby having many opportunities in the race to qualify for the semi-finals of the 33rd SEA Games.
In the next round, the Vietnam women's futsal team will face Myanmar on December 14.
