Good signals in terms of expertise
12 players of the Vietnam U21 Women's Volleyball Team competing in Indonesia are considered the core of their age in the current Vietnamese youth women's volleyball village. Coach Nguyen Trong Linh said: Every player in the Vietnam U21 women's team has good expertise. If they maintain their form, they will soon have the opportunity to replace the older players. Mr. Linh acknowledged after competing in Indonesia: "The players have become much more confident in their expertise".
For two consecutive years, young Vietnamese women's volleyball players have competed and developed well in their expertise from international tournaments. Last year, coach Nguyen Trong Linh and his students ranked fifth at the 2024 U20 Asian Youth Women's Volleyball Championship. This year, the player played well in the group stage but then had to participate in the qualifying round and rank 19th at the 2025 U21 Women's Youth Volleyball World Championship.
According to statistics, 12 players of the Vietnam U21 Women's Volleyball Team belong to units such as the Information Corps, Hanoi, Vietinbank, Thai Nguyen, VTV Binh Dien Long An, Bac Ninh. These are the units that are focusing on doing the best in selecting and training professional training for young athletes.
"To be successful, the national team must have the core of local units. Units that train good players will have good forces for the national team. Players are the deciding factor for the success of a team, so we always pay attention to coaching the youth team at many units to grasp the common development, said Mr. Le Tri Truong, General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation.
Young players with investment will have development opportunities
In one year, Vietnamese volleyball will organize three official tournaments for the national youth level, including the National Youth Championship, the National U23 Youth Championship and the National Youth Club Championship.
The regulations of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation have stipulated that men's and women's teams participating in the National Championship must have youth training routes. If any team does not have it, they will not be able to participate in the National Championship.
With a lot of experience in coaching young players, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once expressed: "Training young players requires time. The coach must be patient to improve a child with talent to become a player who can hit the ball and then become a real volleyball player.
We understand that basic techniques will form the professional habits of athletes. Therefore, all units are trying to do this well so that players can reach the best level when they are adults.
Currently, the units of the Information Corps and VTV Binh Dien Long An are leading the country in selecting and training talented players to become young women's volleyball athletes. In recent years, the youth women's volleyball teams of these two units have won many championships in national youth tournaments. Above all, units still have to find more investment resources. The pressure to present good athletes through each period is also a pain for many young volleyball coaches.
Looking at the competition results of the Vietnam U21 Women's Volleyball Team at the 2025 Youth World Cup, some opinions assessed that the level of Vietnamese players is not inferior to their opponents. We have few opportunities to participate in tournaments in the continent and the world.
Currently, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation has a specialized Department for training and coaching, so it is certain that after the tournament in Indonesia, the manager will need to provide additional investment solutions for the development of young Vietnamese players instead of focusing only on international missions at specific times.
