Thanh Thuy talks about the possibility of winning a gold medal
On December 12, the Vietnam women's volleyball team won 3-0 against Indonesia in the final match of the 33rd SEA Games group stage. In this match, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet sent the number 1 striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy onto the field.
This is the first time the 1997-born hitter has played at this year's tournament. Thanh Thuy is the main point guard, demonstrating her inherent class. She scored with her blocking smashes, becoming the player with the most points for the Vietnam women's team with 15 points.
In addition, the captain of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team actively supported the first step and defended, contributing to the overall victory of the whole team.
After the match, Thanh Thuy shared: "The whole team had a good connection to win today. In the semi-finals, there will certainly be many difficulties, but the whole team will still maintain their spirit, try and make efforts to go further".
Talking about her integration with the whole team after returning from Japan, the Binh Duong-born hitter said that she has not had the best connection. However, Thanh Thuy is trying to talk and practice to better coordinate with her teammates.
"For me, every match has to be played with all my might to win. Winning a gold medal at this stage is very difficult, but we are always ready to fight," Thanh Thuy affirmed.
Women's team's blocking statistics
Indonesia is an opponent that is expected to cause many difficulties for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in the final match of the 33rd SEA Games group stage. However, Thanh Thuy and her teammates had an excellent match.
In addition to the effective performance of the main attackers, Vietnam's blocking line has worked very well. Kieu Trinh and her teammates have tightly blocked Indonesia's attack, scoring a total of 15 blocking points in 3 sets.
The players who had blocked the ball in the Indonesian match were Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh (5 points); Vi Thi Nhu Quynh (4 points); Le Thanh Thuy (3 points); Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Tran Thi Bich Thuy and Dang Thi Kim Thanh have 1 point each.
With 3 wins, the Vietnam women's volleyball team qualified for the semi-finals as the top team in Group B and will meet the Philippines in the next round, taking place on December 14.

Men's coach shares views
According to the schedule, the 33rd SEA Games men's indoor volleyball event will take place from December 13 to December 19. The final match will take place on December 19.
The men's event will have participating teams including Thailand (host), Laos, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia (reigning champion), Myanmar, Philippines.
Coach Tran Dinh Tien shared: "The team's spirit is stable. We will try to play our best in each match. This is a highly competitive tournament, so every team, including Vietnam, must be very focused. The Vietnamese players are in good health, and none of their faces are injured."
