According to Indonesian media, recently, Mr. Erick Thohir - Minister of Youth and Sports of Indonesia and President of the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) completely denied the information that Indonesia was involved in the sanctions applied by FIFA to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and 7 naturalized players of the national team.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Thohir affirmed: " President Prabowo Subianto during the meeting with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in New York only discussed the future of Indonesian football, without mentioning any other country."
He also revealed that FIFA is developing a youth football development program in Indonesia, including a plan to organize the U15 World Championship in the near future.
"We just want Indonesian football to develop, in addition to maintaining the position of pencak silat and badminton. We do not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries," Mr. Thohir emphasized.
This statement was made in the context of many rumors on social networks that Indonesia has accused the Football Federation of Malaysia of FIFA for the issue of using naturalized players who are not eligible to compete.
However, the Indonesian side has denied any involvement, saying that these are baseless speculations.
