The coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's road cycling team said that Nguyen Thi That's training program in China is aimed at strengthening expertise and ensuring effective fitness to be ready before the ASIAD 20 competition.
According to Lao Dong's investigation, in addition to Nguyen Thi That, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's road cycling team also conducted training in China for 2 other athletes, Nguyen Thi Thi and Nguyen Thi Thu Mai.
They will finish the training program in China in September.
Currently, the Vietnam Road Cycling Team has determined a squad of 6 riders registered to compete in ASIAD 20 including Quang Van Cuong, Pham Le Xuan Loc, Nguyen Huong (men) and Nguyen Thi That, Nguyen Thi Thi, Nguyen Thi Thu Mai (women).
Cyclist Nguyen Thi That is the most experienced player in the above squad.
Nguyen Thi That attended three previous ASIADs in 2014 in Korea, 2018 in Indonesia and 2023 in China.
At ASIAD 17 in 2014, Nguyen Thi That won a silver medal in the women's bronze starting event.
Road cycling at ASIAD 20 organizes 4 competition events including men's and women's row start and men's and women's individual timekeeping.
The ASIAD 20 cycling organizing committee has announced the track roadmap for the events. For the long-distance cycling event, the roadmap for men and women has been announced in detail.
Last year at SEA Games 33, athletes Nguyen Thi That and Pham Le Xuan Loc both won bronze medals in their respective events.
