Potential faces
After the 2024 National Volleyball Championship ended, the future of female players received much attention. The story of going abroad was mentioned for prominent faces, especially players such as Bich Tuyen, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Le Thanh Thuy, Tu Linh...
The national team's main scorer, Bich Tuyen, has shown her appeal. According to many sources, the setter currently playing for LPB Ninh Binh has received invitations to play for three clubs in China, Japan and Turkey. According to information on the sidelines, the Turkish team has approached an international broker to find a way to contact Bich Tuyen's representative in Vietnam. Meanwhile, the Chinese club has directly contacted her home team to negotiate.
With Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, after finishing her competition journey in Türkiye early and returning to Vietnam, she still wants to continue to test herself abroad to improve her skills. VTV Binh Dien Long An team will find a suitable solution to suit the wishes and thoughts of this main striker.
In addition, according to experts, Vietnamese women's volleyball has many promising faces competing abroad. It is easy to see that Vietnamese players competing internationally more will have the opportunity to compete with strong opponents. When the team's performance improves, the players will have the opportunity to receive attention from many foreign teams.
Which destination is suitable?
Although there are many prospects, if the opportunity comes, most likely, the Vietnamese women's volleyball players will need to carefully consider their next destination depending on their ability and development potential. Volleyball backgrounds in Asia such as Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan (China), Japan or Korea are considered suitable environments because in these countries, the physical condition as well as the playing style of the players have many similarities with Vietnam.
When giving advice to Bich Tuyen, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once said: "The playing style of teams like Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan (China), Japan or Korea is diverse and flexible, so it will help Bich Tuyen a lot. When going abroad, money will be a problem, but I think Tuyen will have to make her own choice."
In fact, in the past, Vietnamese women's volleyball has had many players go abroad and most of them have achieved success or made their mark when choosing countries in Southeast Asia or Asia as their destinations. Names include Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa (Thailand), Dinh Thi Tra Giang, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Doan Thi Lam Oanh (Thailand), Tran Thi Thanh Thuy (Japan). In early 2024, hitters Ly Thi Luyen, Tran Tu Linh, Tran Thi Bich Thuy of the Duc Giang Chemicals team were also given the opportunity by their home team to go to Korea for a trial.
Certainly, any professional athlete would like to try their hand at a new arena outside of Vietnam. As the performance of Vietnamese women's volleyball improves, the number of athletes competing abroad is also increasing, which is not surprising.
The most important thing is the effort and readiness of each individual, as the middle blocker/coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa shared: "For Hoa, playing abroad is a very good condition, helping me gain a lot of experience in terms of expertise, competition psychology as well as technique. If in the future, young players have the opportunity to go abroad, then be comfortable, play enthusiastically, and give your all."
