Malaysian sports delegation prepares incident response plan at ASIAD 2026

The Malaysian sports delegation increases contingency plans for transportation and food to respond to the risk of service disruption at ASIAD 2026.

The Malaysian National Sports Council (NSC) has added standard operating procedures (SOPs), allowing heads of delegations and team managers to proactively handle cases where vehicles move or food supplies encounter problems.

According to new regulations, if vehicles arranged by the ASIAD 2026 organizers are more than an hour late and there is a risk of affecting the schedule, Malaysian team managers can use technology ride-hailing services to replace them. This must be based on actual needs, at a reasonable cost.

Expenses for alternative vehicles must be recorded and original invoices or payment vouchers must be kept as a basis for reimbursement.

Regarding food, NSC has prepared ready-to-eat meals (RTE) in case the supply provided by the organizers is not enough or not available. If the reserve food supply does not meet the demand, teams managers can proactively purchase additional supplies based on the number of athletes and officials.

Similar to transportation costs, arising food purchases must also have full invoices or payment vouchers.

NSC said these plans were developed to respond to possible service disruptions during the Malaysian delegation's participation in the Aichi-Nagoya ASIAD. The agency emphasized that these are contingency measures, not replacing the food transportation and supply system implemented by the congress organizers.

Malaysia's proactive development of alternative plans is to ensure that the travel schedule, diet and activities of delegation members are not affected when incidents occur at ASIAD 2026.
