On the afternoon of June 27 local time at the competition point of the 2026 Asian Women's Gymnastics Championship in China, athlete Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu entered the final of the women's singles vault event.
She is the only Vietnamese athlete to pass the qualifying round and have a spot to participate in the final of 1 singles event in this year's tournament.
Last year, Quynh Nhu won a silver medal in women's vault at the 2025 Asian Championships. Unfortunately, in this year's competition, the female athlete from Ho Chi Minh City could not defend her runner-up title.
The women's singles vault final at the 2026 Asian Women's Gymnastics Championships has 8 athletes participating, respectively belonging to the teams of China (1 person), South Korea (1), Japan (1), Vietnam (1), India (1), Uzbekistan (1) and North Korea (2).
Each athlete performed 2 times in the back dance. Quynh Nhu achieved 13.533 points in the first jump and 12.666 points in the second jump.
In the end, the Vietnamese player has 13.299 points in this year's competition and ranked 6th.
The result was not enough to help Quynh Nhu win a medal at this year's Asian Championships.
The champion and gold medalist is athlete Yeo Seojeong (South Korea, 14.349 points) and the runner-up is An Chang Ok (DPRK, 13.949 points).
The 2026 Asian Women's Gymnastics Championship is calculated as the result of the ASIAD 20 qualifiers.
The tournament will close on June 28 with the remaining singles finals. After that, the Asian Gymnastics Federation is expected to announce the list of athletes who will be qualified for ASIAD 20.
