Vietnam women's beach handball team wins gold medal

The Vietnamese women's beach handball team won convincingly in the final match at the 2026 Asian Beach Games.

At noon on April 30 (China time), at the 2026 Asian Beach Games, the Vietnamese women's beach handball team won against host China to win the championship.

The final match took place fiercely right from the start. Vietnamese female players played well in the first half to win with a score of 20-18.

However, in the second half, the Chinese female player regained her composure and implemented an effective tactic. The Chinese player's combinations ended with a decisive point for the home team to win 21-20.

Because the 2 official halves ended in a draw. The final match had to be a shoot-out (decisive penalty shootout).

After the throws of each side, the Vietnamese female player won with a score of 9-6 in this nerve-wracking shootout.

In the end, the Vietnamese women's beach handball team won 2-1 and won a gold medal. This is the last gold medal of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 2026 Asian Beach Games.

Notably, the Vietnamese women's beach handball team once won a gold medal at the 2016 Asian Beach Games held in Da Nang. At that time, we defeated the Chinese women's team in the final.

In the women's beach handball event of this year's Games, the Thai women's team won a bronze medal.
