On April 25, Vo Thi My Tien became the first Vietnamese female swimmer to win a medal at the 2026 Asian Beach Games after finishing 3rd in the 5km open water swimming event.
In this competition, Vo Thi My Tien achieved a result of 1 hour 01 minute 57.7 seconds to win a bronze medal. The gold medal belonged to Li Xinxuan (China) with a time of 1 hour 01 minute 33.6 seconds, while the silver medal belonged to athlete Chen Yijing (China) when she achieved a result of 1 hour 01 minute 43.2 seconds.
The Vietnamese swimming team will also compete on April 26 and April 27 in the following events of open water swimming at the 2026 Asian Beach Games.
However, the bronze medal result of Vo Thi My Tien is a good start bringing good signals for the Vietnamese swimming team.
Before attending the 2026 Asian Beach Games, Vo Thi My Tien was trained in China for 3 weeks.
At this Congress, the Vietnamese swimming team has 4 athletes: Vo Thi My Tien, Nguyen Huy Hoang, Mai Tran Tuan Anh, Nguyen Kha Nhi. We participate in the men's 5km, women's 5km and 4x1 relay events. 500m mixed men's and women's.
Last year, Vo Thi My Tien won a bronze medal in the women's 10km open water swimming individual event at SEA Games 33 in Thailand.
