According to international media, on October 22, FIDE confirmed that it was reviewing allegations related to Kramnik after many top players thought that his series of posts accusing him of fraud may have contributed to the mental pressure on Naroditsky. FIDE CEO Emil Sutovsky said the organization would act within its authority and review the entire incident.
Naroditsky is a familiar face in the online football community with his superb level and in-depth commentary style. He has denied all fraud allegations from Kramnik, but has recently shown signs of fatigue and stress during broadcasts. Naroditsky's sudden death on October 19 shocked the global chess world.
Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura and many other grandmasters have criticized Kramnik, saying he must bear moral responsibility for the incident.
In response to the backlash, FIDE sent his condolences to Naroditsky's family and said he would posthumously award him a special award in recognition of his contributions to chess. Meanwhile, Kramnik declined to comment further, saying he would tell the whole story when there was an official response from FIDE Arkady Dvorkovich.
Kramnik was born in 1975, was a world champion in the 20002006 period, but in recent years, he has often posted accusations of fraud without evidence targeting many players, including both Vietnamese players, Le Quang Liem and Le Tuan Minh.
