The 10th Hai Phong City Sports Festival will take place from November 2025 to May 2026 with the participation of athletes from 114 wards, communes, special zones and 2 police and military sectors. The opening ceremony alone had the participation of more than 7,800 people, including 3,100 athletes from communes, wards, special zones, sectors, units, representatives of the athlete community and city referees.
The opening program includes the following parts: parade to honor the forces of the 47 groups with more than 3,200 people; opening ceremony and art performance program with the theme: "Hai Phong Sports Firmly enter the new era".
In particular, the art performance program with historical, cultural and sports highlights deeply expresses the cultural identity of Hai Phong people: patriotism - Solidarity - Intelligence - Heroes - Pioneers - Dynamic - Creative; contributing to building Hai Phong into: " a modern, civilized port city, taking the lead in building socialism" in the era of national growth.
Within the framework of the congress, athletes competed in 18 official competitions in the congress's program including: Table Tennis, football, volleyball, chess, chess, badminton, cross country, track and field athletics, indoor swimming, aerobic exercise, physical education, Pencak Silat, Karate, traditional martial arts, Taekwondo, freestyle, soccer, tug of war. In which, the first badminton competition will be from November 12 to 14 with the participation of 26 units with 130 athletes at Phu Lien Ward Gymnasium. Next is football starting from November 27 with the participation of 16 teams.
It is expected that in 2025, 4 sports will be organized for competition. The remaining sports will complete the competition before June 2026 to prepare for the selection of athletes and practice to improve their achievements to participate in the National Sports Festival in November 2026.
The Congress has 7 more welcoming sports including: Traditional boat racing, Marathon, volleyball, disabled sports, tennis, golf, folk sports.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung - Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee - emphasized that the 10th Hai Phong City Sports Festival, 2025-2026, was opened in a new context, which is the expansion of administrative boundaries, area, and population size of Hai Phong city, which has created space and conditions for comprehensive development in all economic, cultural, and social fields of the city, including sports.
To date, Hai Phong city has 958 athletes and 125 coaches, with spearhead sports, such as: shooting, boat racing, table tennis, football... The city's training and competition facilities have had a number of works that meet the standards to host national, regional and continental tournaments; becoming a prestigious and attractive destination for domestic and international sports events. In 2025 alone, the city successfully organized 2 major tournaments: Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship and Asian Rowing - Canoeing Championship, attracting athletes and coaches from nearly 30 countries...
The 10th Hai Phong City Sports Festival is a political, cultural and social event, aiming to promote the image and socio-economic development of the city; a festival of all levels, sectors, social organizations and all people. The city leaders believe that athletes and coaches will train their will and discipline; compete honestly; determined to set new records; spread the image of Hai Phong as brave, affectionate and aspirational.
