The National Kickboxing Tournament is a playground to find athletes for the national team towards the 33rd SEA Games.

The 2025 National Kickboxing Tournament witnessed the strength of the Hanoi delegation. Accordingly, in the men's events, Hanoi won 6 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals.

This achievement far surpassed the second-placed teams when the Army team had 3 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 6 bronze medals - taking 2nd place; while Ho Chi Minh City ranked 3rd overall with 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 7 bronze medals.

In addition, Hanoi also affirmed its position in the women's events with 6 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal. Dong Binh Dinh ranked second with 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals; Nghe An ranked third with 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal.

Mr. Vu Duc Thinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Kickboxing Federation said that this is an important tournament to help coaches and experts evaluate the quality of their expertise, review their strength, and prepare for the 33rd SEA Games scheduled to take place in Thailand at the end of this year.

"The tournament is a good opportunity to check performance and select the best athletes for the national team".

Meanwhile, Mr. Dam Cong Dien - in charge of Boxing and Kickboxing (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) said that outstanding players in this tournament will be called up to the national team, starting from July 1 to December 31 to prepare for the regional arena.

At this year's tournament, the kickboxing department witnessed the brilliance of many familiar athletes Huynh Van Tuan (HCMC), Nguyen Quang Huy, Trieu Thi Phuong Thuy (Hanoi) or Bui Thi Yen Nhi (Hau Giang) ... contributing to creating attractive and rich professional matches.

They continue to be the faces expected to be in the national team competing in upcoming international tournaments, especially the 33rd SEA Games this year in Thailand.

Regarding the long-term plan, the Chairman of the Vietnam Kickboxing Federation assessed that this year's tournament is not only an opportunity for top-level competition but also an opportunity for the sports industry to comprehensively review the development of Kickboxing in localities. The outstanding achievements at the main tournament are a true reflection of the effectiveness of training and investment at the grassroots level, thereby helping to orient the long-term development strategy for the sport.
