The most important mark that Vietnamese golf has achieved at the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) arena is 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal achieved at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.
In the few times he shared with the media, Le Khanh Hung - the golfer who won the individual gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games - said: "That was a very emotional result for me and Vietnamese golf has achieved remarkable results at the SEA Games arena."
Vietnam Sports aims to achieve high results at the 33rd SEA Games in December 2025 in Thailand. Golf continues to be the sport expected to have medals.
Two years after winning the championship in Cambodia, Le Khanh Hung is still a member of the Vietnamese golf team, practicing and competing in many domestic and international tournaments.
In October 2024, Le Khanh Hung was a member of the Vietnamese golf team (with Nguyen Anh Minh and Ho Anh Huy) who made a miracle when they won the team championship of the Asia Pacific Golf Team Championship - Nomura Cup 2024.
On the field in Hai Phong at that time, the representative of the Vietnamese golf team revealed that all 3 golfers tried their best to compete and won the overall team championship, but Khanh Hung was definitely the happiest because he continued to affirm his own ability.
In 2024, golf experts recorded the first time Vietnam had an athlete participating in the most prestigious tournament for amateur golfers in the world, the US Amateur 2024 (USA). That golfer was Le Khanh Hung and this golfer passed the cut and finished in the T32 position overall.
At the age of 17 (born in 2008) and with a passion for golf, Le Khanh Hung has many professional goals for himself.
The golfer once shared that he really wanted to have the opportunity to set foot in the US to study, accumulate expertise and master techniques from the world's top golfers. That dream of Khanh Hung has come true.
Le Khanh Hung was awarded a scholarship by the University of Illinois (USA) and will join the golf team there from the 2026 school year. Currently, Le Khanh Hung is studying a cultural program at Montverde School (Florida, USA).
Returning to his professional career, the 32nd SEA Games champion started the new year 2025 by participating in the Australian Master of the Amateurs 2025 in Australia in early January 2025. At the end of the tournament, Khanh Hung ranked 8th in the men's individual.
“The Vietnamese golf team has professional goals to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games. Le Khanh Hung, Nguyen Anh Minh and many other athletes with the best performance will have the opportunity to participate in this tournament.
Khanh Hung is the current individual male golf champion at the SEA Games, so if he participates, he will attract a lot of attention from his opponents," a representative of the golf department (Department of Physical Education and Sports) once said.
